Another Graduation Weekend

This summer has been a busy one.  Last week I went home for a week to help my parents host a graduation party for my youngest brother who graduated from high school.  The party was a great success--wonderful fiesta-inspired food, great friends, and beautiful gardens.

This weekend I'm off to Chicago for another graduation weekend.  This one is a family celebration for the bf who graduated from law school in May.  I am so fortunate to be able to see my family again this weekend and be able to see the bf's family.  Although I'm excited to see everyone, my bff S is coming out to the burbs from downtown, and I am absolutely ecstatic!

S and I first met at orientation for our undergraduate university.  She first approached me because I was wearing a Dave Matthews Band tee shirt (which is so funny now to me), and she had gone to a recent concert and was wondering which concert I went to.  I noted that she was wearing an outfit oddly similar to one I owned (same polo and pants that I owned in different colors).  She was so nice and outgoing, but we were meeting many different people that weekend.  The next day I wore a simple outfit of black capris and a white top with my black canvas Gap bag (okay, it was 2003, so it was cool to me at least at the time).  I did not see S at all that day.  On the third day, we were broken into groups by major to learn how to choose and register for classes.  Political Science was a very popular major at my school, but we were the only two people who were Poli Sci majors in our orientation group.  As we read about different courses, we found even more we had in common.  S played cello while I played violin, we both took French, and were both excited to study abroad in the future.  The outfit similarities also continued, on this day S was wearing black bottoms and a white top with the EXACT SAME BAG.  We were total soul-mates.  We registered for two of the same poli sci classes, sat by each other on the first day, and my life has not been the same since.

Throughout our undergraduate years as we both did sorority recruitment (and joined different sororities), took every class we could together, studied countless hours, spent too much money at the very meager mall near campus, and talked waaaay too loudly at the law library where we both worked, we grew closer together and continue to grow closer together as we both embark upon new adventures.  Although we live a few states apart, S and I are lucky to be able to see each other a few times a year.  Thank you, S for everything.  My life wouldn't be the same without you.  Can't wait to see you on Saturday! :)

Janie's Summer Must-Haves!

I just adore reading what Janie has to say on Lilly.  She was just featured in the Boston Globe.

Love all the red, white, and blue for 2010!  :)  What do you think are the summer 2010 must-buys?  Since I've been working a lot this summer, cardigans and fun accessories have helped me look professional and fun.

Glee Season Finale

Tonight was the season finale of one of my shows--Glee.

Without spoiling anything, I adored the dresses that the girls wore for regionals--InStyle.com and People's StyleWatch both credit the dresses as Betsey Johnson.  (They also both have a video of the cast singing.)  I love doing my hair this way too--very 60s glam with tons of height.  I may have to do a version of this for work tomorrow. . .

Anyone else a fan of Glee and/or this amazing dress? ;)

Not so secret confession. . .

I just looooooooooove looking at facebook pictures of weddings and engagement rings!

And I may or may not save just a few of the very special pictures in a top secret very embarrassing folder for future reference.

I just love this cake that I found on facebook!  The silver stand alone is divine. :)

Do you do the same or am I alone in this secret habit? ;)

I just adore Betty Draper!

When Mad Men first came out, I felt like so many people loved it and people kept telling me I'd love it too.

This past week I have been catching up and watched seasons one and two and am beginning the third.  Hopefully I'll be ready to watch the new season premiere in a few weeks all caught up.

I adore the costuming of all of the characters.  Betty Draper's dresses are divine, and I may have to do a future post just on her horseback riding apparel!

Are you a Mad Men fan?  Are there any other shows that you adore?
