Friday's Fancies City Chic Louboutins

I am so excited to be participating in Friday's Fancies again this week, especially with my new gorgeous banner that {av} made me!

Friday's Fancies City Chic Boots

Today's theme was similar to last week's cozy fall, but this week most people are focusing on fabulous boots.  I adore these Louboutin boots and thought they called for a fabulous Friday of busy meetings in the city.  To keep the look extra special, a gorgeous pearl ring and some special earrings provide a bit of bling, and I'd trade my big work tote for this dreamy YSL clutch for happy hour.

What are your favorite boots?

Kate Spade Fall 2011 Picks

With this morning's Kate Spade Sample Sale email, I crossed my fingers that one of my favorites would be on the sale list.  I was able to withstand the pressure and not buy any of the goodies, but I am drooling over some more recent finds.

I really don't need any more shoes, ever, but these Jocelyn pumps and Franca flats are two amazing color combinations.  (Sidenote: the pink and red combo is why Valentine's Day is my fave holiday.)

The book clutches are still adorable.

Tuxedo Hill Nadine (Could there be a more perfect work bag?)

The Jackson (in Knightsbridge) is another perfect work bag contender.  It's even on sale in black.

I love the Maryanne style.

And as most of my choices are pretty classic, a sequin duffle would be the perfect item for a fun weekend away!

And of course, there is quite a need to fill that gorgeous duffle with fun clothes for a trip.

I was quite close to being named Magdalena (that's a whole 'nother story!), so this dress' cute and quirky name really put it at the top of my wishlist.

The Bethanne.  I'd wear this belted, although I really belt most things, so this may not be a surprise to most friends.

Pink tweed makes this skirt so much more fun than the tweed minis I already own.

I love the Gail.

The Cherie coat would be perfect for strolling along the streets of Paris!  Oui, oui, ma cherie! ;)

Have you checked out the Kate Spade sample sale?  What are you drooling over?  Is anyone else as smitten with items that have cute names?

Happy Monday!

This rainy Monday for me includes a busy workday with lots of meetings, the first Junior League meeting of the year (wohoo for the Lilly Junior League scarf I get to wear tonight!), and of course the season premiere of Gossip Girl!

What are you looking forward to this week?

What to Wear to a Bachelorette Party in Miami

Remember last year when I was getting ready for a fab Miami bachelorette party trip with my sorority sisters and I asked for your help with knowing what to wear?  I ended up bringing many outfit choices and wore three dresses total.  The Miami dress code seems to be short, tight, or low-cut, similar to clubs in Vegas (which was another time when I had nothing to wear).  As I don't often dress this way, I didn't want to spend too much money on clothes I wouldn't wear again.  I also tried to wear fun outfits that were less conservative than my usual attire, but still classy and cute.

This weekend, my friend N is headed to Miami for one of her friend's bachelorette parties and I got to go shopping with her to get some necessities for her trip.

These are the lessons I learned last year:
1.  Most cheaper items look more high quality in black.
2.  Sparkly shoes can make an outfit.
3.  You will be very glad once you get to Miami that you brought lots of options.  Don't forget accessory options as well!  Bring belts, necklaces, earrings, and clutches.
4.  Very few women wear anything other than dresses (or tops with a bandage skirt) out.
5.  Your highest platforms will still probably not be the tallest shoes in the club.
6.  Watching a few old episodes of Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami may not be a bad idea.  (Thanks, Alexandria for this tip of channeling Kim K.! ;)
7.  Prioritize getting a spray tan and nice mani/pedi before you go.  A spray tan, perfect nails and a pair of Spanx make a world of difference.

Forever 21 really is one of the best places to go.  I bought a short, tighter black dress for $10 and dressed it up with metallic accessories for one night out.

You could use any of these dresses to get a similar look.

Miami Bachelorette Party

For another night, I wore a dress from H & M (another great inexpensive place to look) that was an animal print off the shoulder.  For the last night, I wore a J. Crew dress.  I had bought one of the popular Herve Leger-style bandage skirt to wear, but realized I left it at home, so I had to improvise.  Again, I took my dress (which was definitely on the shorter side, but not too far outside my comfort zone) and added a metallic belt, fun clutch and sparkly shoes.

While searching for clothes for a fun trip, this may be a perfect time to go into stores you never go into or at least since 10th grade.  Other stores to look at:
  • Zara
  • Bebe
  • Arden B
  • Express
  • Any department store junior's department
Another option would be to use Rent the Runway.  I have only heard wonderful reviews for the site, and it would be so nice to be able to pick out one or two and have them shipped to your hotel.  My favorite dress is the one in the top middle, Mark and James by Badgley Mischka's Gossip Queen.

And if all else fails, just smile big and have a blast with your girlfriends!  Isn't that the whole point of your trip anyway?

What are your tips for dressing up for bachelorette parties and the like?

Campfire Engagment Photos

This is the perfect time to transition from summer to autumn with a beachy campfire, gorgeous red nails and a plaid shirt.  This gorgeous engagement photo session was featured here on Style Me Pretty, and every picture is more adorable than the last.

Have you gotten out your plaid shirts or had any fun campfires lately? ;)

Friday's Fancies Fashion Forward

Happy Friday!  Time for another fun round of Friday's Fancies--this week's theme is Fashion Forward. It's cold, wet and rainy, so this would be the tres parfait outfit for fashion week.  The gorgey Lanvin sweater dress looks so cozy, you could stash all of your notes in your Hermes Birkin, make sure you're on time with your multi-metal Michele watch, and peer over the crowd in your Gucci booties.  Don't forget a warm Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Seeing Spots

I have two pairs of leopard flats--one pair from J. Crew circa 2007 that I adore, but are nearing the end of their life, and a new pair of Tahari ones.  Confession:  I have three pairs of the exact same Tahari Gibson flats as I love them that much--one pair in black tweed, one in in light tan and the leopard pair.  They all have black captoes.  If you come across a pair, you should buy them in an instant as they're phenomenally comfortable.

My Tahari Gibson leopard flats

Leopard seems to be everywhere now, to my delight!  I have combed the interwebs a bit in search for some new shoes to add to anyone's closet.

You can't go wrong with classic Ferragamo Varinas.

I have been dying to try a pair of Ivanka Trump shoes--these look like a perfect wedge.

I never turn down a good bow.

A great platform from Brian Atwood.

You can't beat Tory for flats, these are the Celinah.

Or try the Kendrick.

There's some fun spunk to this pair.

You may guess I love details.  And these pumps from an unexpected source.

Another pair of comfortable wedges.

And I can't leave out the popular Sam Edelman flats lots of the fashion bloggers have been wearing.

Or the similar Steve Madden pair.

And a perfect pair of Manolos.

Do you have any leopard shoes?  What are your favorite fall shoes?
